Wilderness First Responder (Hybrid) Develop the skills and confidence to provide wilderness medical care when professional help may be hours or days away. Hybrid Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course combines comprehensive online learning with immersive hands-on field training to prepare participants for real-world backcountry emergencies. Designed for outdoor professionals, guides, educators, search and rescue members, expedition leaders, hunters, and serious outdoor enthusiasts, this course focuses on patient assessment, critical decision-making, leadership, and extended care in remote environments. Course Format Blending online self paced lessons followed by in person training -Self-Paced Online Learning Complete interactive online coursework covering wilderness medicine foundations, patient assessment, trauma management, medical emergencies, environmental injuries, evacuation decisions, leadership, and wilderness protocols. -35–45 Hours In-Person Field Training Participate in hands-on skills practice, realistic wilderness scenarios, team-based patient care, and extended simulations designed to develop confidence in managing emergencies in remote settings. In-person training may be completed through an intensive multi-day field course or scheduled training sessions, depending on the course offering. Course Topics Include * Patient assessment and decision-making * Trauma and medical emergencies * Environmental illnesses and injuries * Wound care and extended patient management * Improvised splinting, packaging, and evacuation techniques * Leadership, communication, and team response * Wilderness-specific risk management Participants must be: * Prepared to participate in physically active, hands-on outdoor training Upon successful completion of the online coursework and required in-person training, participants receive a **nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder certification** from the certifying organization listed for the specific course offering. 2 Year Certification Busy schedule?
